 World No. 5 Elena Dementieva will be striving to emulate her strong start to the season in 2009, where she claimed two titles in Auckland at the Medibank International Sydney. The early success continued at the Australian Open – with a seminfinals appearance – her best performance at the first Grand Slam of the year, losing to eventual champion Serena Williams. At the end of February, she was a finalist in Paris and made her top 3 debut in April. Dementieva claimed a title in Toronto and reached the semifinals five times, including Wimbledon. |
